How many times did you hear these phrases?
“ Let’s push for having this done!”
“ Pushing the team for motivation…”
“ Push yourself more and you will make it!”
“ Convince them that this is a good idea!”
“ Drive this change through the organization!”
All of this creates resistance.
Why is resistance created?
are coming from a mindset that is coming in a package with authority
most of us, from the personality perspective, do not like to be told what to do - our autonomy is high
our brain takes unconscious decisions in 90% of the cases which means that automatic behaviors are happening all the time; whatever is new, a change, or something that we “must” do is not welcomed automatically by our brain; we need to be relaxed, not tired or stressed when a change is coming
it relates to top-down leadership behaviors, where the team is not asked upfront about their opinion, and no psychological space is created for them
So what can we use instead?
it is about “pull” instead of “push”, “turning the ship around” and getting engagement and involvement from the teams by asking what is their opinion and listening to them instead of sending orders top-down
it is about “inviting” or “co-creating” instead of “driving” a change through the organization; the motivation comes from inside when there is a common understanding of the “why” behind it and everyone relates to it
it is about “inspiring” and “asking questions” instead of “convincing” - when people are relating to a success story, to learning or to something that triggers their curiosity that’s when they do not need someone to “convince” them, they are already running ahead you then
A true situation when “PUSH” was the main word
It was one day in the morning. A room full of managers. A team that was working super hard to deliver a product.
One of the managers was repeating: “Let’s push the team to be faster!”.
I knew I need to talk with that manager separately to explain why it will not work. Explaining in front of others would have taken his status down and would not make any sense.
So I invited him to talk on a one-to-one basis.
I planned this in the morning as well, to make sure I have the right energy for it.
Using a metaphor to explain why our human brain does not receive the “push” but the “pull” and giving examples of what happened in the teams when “push” was used, brought the manager in the position to make sense of this mindset and allowed it for a trial phase.
We had several sessions together where we were talking about the team delivery and mindset until he was himself fully applying the “pull” instead of “push”.
It works and for me was relevant to be able to explain the “why” behind this and how our brain works.
Do you also want to be able to get the “why” behind specific situations?
I am inviting you to register yourself for the training “Neuroscience behind facilitation” to do so. You will:
🎲 Practice how to connect with people or help them go out of emotionally stressed moments
🎲 Discover a universal human interaction framework
🎲 Create your own action plan where you will be able to apply the learnings, or even find already solutions for the situations where you did not feel comfortable enough to deal with
🎲 Get before training content which will help you connect with the training purpose
🎲 Get after the training all the links, additional content to use in daily work, and recoding available for min. 6 months
🎲 Connect with like-minded people, other participants who have the same interest in the WHY behind specific situations in facilitation / trainings / life
How to buy speed?
Instead of going through many trainings, books, and more than 200 facilitated sessions, get in 3 hours the basics of the WHY behind specific situations!
You buy speed, time, and save a lot of energy.
It will be enough for you to go through any situation?
No.
But it will help you with most of them because the content is universal, independent of culture, industry, and so on.
What is the training format?
live, interactive, using brain-based methods to keep participants engaged
via Zoom and using virtual whiteboard Miro
breakout rooms
analog pen, paper, graphical organizer
before the training content-related information sent
after the training recording, links and content that you can use in your daily work
What happens if you do not do this training?
Well can be nothing or it can be …..that one moment you will quit. Exactly how I would have done it 10 years ago. It depends on the situation and on yourself….
You act in one way when you know WHY something happens and how to identify it and in another way when you do not.
And it’s not only about yourself but also to be able to do this when you have a full room of people.
Want to join us? Secure your spot by registering your intention to participate now!
What is different in this training?
🎲 It is brain-based training which means it is made for you to be able to apply the learnings immediately, during the training directly.
🎲 It is a practical, very interactive, and focused session.
🎲 It will be bringing you my experience from more than 200 workshops facilitated during the last 2 years, know-how from the trainings I have attended, books, and podcasts that I get inspiration from.
Why doing this training with me?
I learned both in the hard way and then in trainings. I used what I learned in my sessions and it works. And not only once.
I facilitate the last two years minimum 2 sessions per week, with different teams, topics, cultures, and so on.
And it works.
Is this the only reason?
Well, there are many more :)
I am passionate to help people enjoy working together. And I combine playful methods with neuromindfulness, customize the sessions to my audience.
