A real story - how did I cope with a Monday 9 am blaming meeting?
Yes, there were a lot of emotions involved...
A real story here…
It was one Monday morning 9 am. A meeting full of managers and me. I was supposed to be involved content-wise in the discussion.
The spirits were hot so was I.
Was an escalation meeting.
People were talking louder than usual, there were visibly emotionally affected, stressed out, and frustrated.
I do think that everyone has his own perspective, and that due to being unable to control their own emotions, there were emotionally hijacked. So, even though they had good intentions, the way they were talking was visible out of emotions and their actual state.
Blaming, shaming, putting people to the wall - it all happened there.
Did I survive it? Yes. How?
How? By applying what I learned in the Neuroscience of Communication training and by taking the time to breathe and apply the non-violent communication method.
First comes awareness. Awareness about what happens around me but especially what happens inside myself.
Taking care that I regulate my emotions before answering.
Taking care that I help the others connect again with each other and with the common purpose we were there to discuss.
Taking care that I do express my appreciation for what I see good in what they say even though how they said it was not in a compassionate way.
Taking care that I help them arrive at a constructive discussion.
Because I know how the brain works and this is universal.
No, it’s not easy when I am not facilitating but being content-wise involved, but it is easier now that I know how to deal with such situations.
Want to practice how to deal with such situations and many more that attack your emotional status?
Register your intention for the on-demand training: Facilitation - neuroscience behind.

someone is insisting on one idea just for the sake of winning?
negative pushback in different situations
changing deadlines without consulting anybody?
micromanaging someone?
people having different needs and hard to align them
no sense of belonging in the team?
someone takes credit for other’s people work?
